Senior Care in Tarrytown
We at The Perfect Home Care want to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday season and a very happy 2016!
As we are in the midst of the holiday season, cold weather is upon us, which can be a challenging time for the elderly and their families. There are days when getting out can be difficult, which can lead to depression in those who are homebound.
It’s important for family members to check on their elderly loved ones as often as possible. Even a daily phone call to loved ones can make a difference by checking that:
1 – They have ample food in the house.
2 – They have their medications.
3 – Their heat, electricity and appliances are functioning well.
4 – They have flashlights, and smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors have batteries and are working.
It is important to complete these tasks not only in the winter, but year-round.
Keep an eye on your loved ones’ behavior; if there has been a change in their mood or a sudden onset of depression, seek a medical professional’s opinion.
Engage with your loved ones as much as possible in the holiday season through extended family visits, to keep them engaged and in good spirits. When the weather permits, it’s a great idea to go out for a meal at a favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Most important of all, have a great Holiday Season from all of us at The Perfect Home Care.
